Protest at AI summit: Four more Youth Congress members arrested
Police using excessive force against peaceful protesters raises concerns.
The Delhi police arrested four more members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) for their “shirtless” protest at the AI Impact Summit, adding charges of rioting to the existing FIR. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the arrests and called them a "mortgaging" of the country. The IYC president, Uday Bhanu Chib, was remanded in police custody after being dubbed the “mastermind” behind the protest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the protest as an example of “naked politics.” The Delhi police are investigating the incident and have invoked various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to identify all the accused.
