Farm politics intensifies in west U.P. over India-U.S. deal

Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), and other farmers in western Uttar Pradesh are expressing concerns about the potential impact of the upcoming trade deal between India and the United States on Indian farmers. The Tikait faction has criticized the deal as a unilateral U.S. declaration and threatened agitation. Jayant Chaudhary, president of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), has defended the deal, arguing that it will benefit Indian farmers by protecting them from losses and highlighting the superiority of Indian farmers compared to their American counterparts.
