Traditional knowledge docketing system among proposals in draft Kerala Intellectual Property Rights Policy
Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB) and the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology are proposing revisions to the state's Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) policy, which aims to modernize its approach. The draft policy includes recommendations for a traditional knowledge docketing system (TKDS) to document community-held knowledge and facilitate recognition of their rights, as well as initiatives to promote 'IP commercialisation'. The policy also emphasizes education, employment, and enterprise development within the context of a growing "knowledge economy" in Kerala. The draft is open for public feedback until February 23rd.
