Kerala closest representation of high human development society in India: N. Ram

N. Ram, Director of The Hindu Group, highlighted the success of Kerala as a model for high human development, despite modest income levels. He emphasized that Kerala's achievements in eliminating extreme poverty, low infant and maternal mortality rates, and universal literacy demonstrate the effectiveness of social investment and democratic decentralization. However, he cautioned against romanticizing this achievement, noting challenges like unemployment and fiscal pressures. Kanimozhi, Lok Sabha MP, called for safeguarding democracy, secularism, and federal principles in India amidst concerns about shrinking democratic space and dissent suppression.
