Assam Interim Budget 2026-27: flagship schemes to continue

Ajanta Neog, the Assam Finance Minister, presented an interim budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year. She highlighted major flagship schemes that provide direct cash benefits, including Nijut Moina and Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu. These programs aim to reduce dropout rates among girls and support economically weaker boys pursuing higher education. The budget also emphasizes the expansion of the poverty alleviation scheme Orunodoi, which has been expanded to include more vulnerable groups. Ms. Neog emphasized Assam's economic growth, projecting a ₹10 lakh crore economy by 2028.
