The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has announced protests against the India-U.S. bilateral trade agreement, citing concerns about its impact on farmers and alleging a lack of transparency in negotiations. Rakesh Tikait, BKU leader, demands withdrawal from the agreements or removal of agriculture-related provisions. He argues that the agreements will negatively affect domestic prices for crops used for animal feed and fodder, as well as increase seed prices and corporate control over the agricultural sector. The BKU has also expressed support for a general strike called by Central Trade Unions on February 12th.
