The Supreme Court bench, comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and N.V. Anjaria, heard petitions related to the ongoing Special Electoral Revision (SIR) exercise in West Bengal on Monday. Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal's Chief Minister, argued her case before the court, urging intervention to "save democracy" from what she perceived as targeted manipulation of electoral rolls. The Supreme Court previously issued notices and sought replies from the Election Commission and the chief electoral officer of West Bengal by February 9th.
