Each Minister handles his responsibility, says Piyush Goyal on trade deal, Russian oil

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal refuted allegations of friction between him and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, stating that the two handled different issues regarding the trade agreement with the U.S. Goyal emphasized that India's import of critical commodities is likely to grow to $2 trillion in 5 years, a part of which the U.S. will supply. The deal aims to protect Indian farmers and expand trade opportunities for both countries. Goyal highlighted that while some farmer groups are unhappy with certain exclusions, the agreement safeguards sensitivities and opens new markets for Indian agricultural products. He also addressed concerns about the commitment to buy $500 billion of U.S. goods, stating it's an intention to diversify supply chains and not a mandate. Goyal acknowledged that the deal is subject to WTO rules and expressed confidence in its completion by mid-March.
