Kerala Assembly: Opposition boycotts proceedings amid heated disputes over Sabarimala gold theft
The Kerala Legislative Assembly was disrupted on Wednesday as the United Democratic Front (UDF) boycotted proceedings following accusations of false claims made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding an Opposition MLA's actions during protests related to the Sabarimala gold theft. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan accused the Chief Minister of making insulting remarks about Congress leaders and demanded his withdrawal. The Speaker, however, defended the ruling party's response to the protests and stated that an UDF MLA had indeed attacked a Watch and Ward personnel with a stick. The UDF walked out during the Question Hour after heated exchanges between the opposing parties.
