Himachal CM Sukhu terms Union Budget ‘inequitable’, raises concerns over Finance Commission report

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, criticized the Union Budget 2026-27 as "inequitable" and "anti-poor and anti-farmer," citing its failure to address the state's unique challenges and concerns. He expressed disappointment over the 16th Finance Commission (FC-XVI) report, which did not recommend Revenue Deficit Grants (RDGs) for Himachal Pradesh, deeming it an injustice that will hinder the state's ability to deliver essential services and sustain social welfare commitments. He also highlighted the lack of recognition for apple growers in the budget despite their significant economic contribution.
