CM lays foundation stone for Tamil Nadu Knowledge City, oversees MoU exchange
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the Tamil Nadu Knowledge City (TNKC) during the India Global Education Summit 2026 in Chennai, receiving Letters of Intent (LoIs) from several universities, research labs, and businesses totaling ₹355 crore. TIDCO, the nodal agency for TNKC, received these LoIs which have the potential to create 2,255 direct jobs and 9,650 indirect opportunities. IIT-Madras Director V. Kamakoti was felicitated with the Padma Shri award. The University of Melbourne will establish an applied research facility in quantum computing and agritech, while IIT-Madras' Centre for Advanced Automotive Research will set up a translational research facility for electric vehicles. Several other institutions have signed MoUs to collaborate on innovation and research ecosystem facilities in Tamil Nadu.
