K.N. Balagopal, Kerala Finance Minister, presented the state's 2026-27 budget on Thursday, promising a ₹14,500 crore boost for social security pensioners and new community programs. The budget included increased honoraria for ASHA, Anganwadi workers, pre-primary teachers, literacy mission motivators, and school cooking staff. It also allocated funds for the Chief Minister's Stree Suraksha Scheme, rural employment schemes, life and health insurance, free degree education, and regional rapid transit system development. Balagopal criticized the Central government for neglecting Kerala and cutting its tax revenues.
