TMC, BJP supporters ‘clash’ near Kolkata; makeshift public meeting stage set afire
Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters clashed in Sakherbazar, Kolkata on Sunday evening over the use of microphones at a local club. A makeshift stage set up for a public meeting by former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb, where some alleged BJP supporters accosted members during a badminton tournament, was allegedly set on fire during the altercation. Ratna Chatterjee, TMC MLA from Behala Purba constituency, stated that the party will respond with greater force to such tactics.
