Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the government of attempting to erase Mahatma Gandhi's legacy by repealing the MGNREGA. He stated that his party will vigorously oppose the new law during Parliament's upcoming Budget session and urged workers to unite against it. The Congress launched a 45-day nationwide campaign, "MGNREGA Bachao Sangram," demanding the withdrawal of the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act and restoration of MGNREGA as a rights-based law.
