TMC disrupts BJP’s attempts to submit Form 7 in West Bengal, triggering clashes, vandalism
Political violence and disruption of democratic processes are serious concerns.
Supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed in West Bengal on Monday, January 19, 2026, over Form 7 applications for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Gouri Sankar Ghosh, BJP Murshidabad MLA, alleged that Trinamool Congress supporters assaulted his party workers and set Form 7 applications on fire. Agnimitra Paul, Asansol BJP MLA, organized protests against police action against BJP supporters who were attempting to submit Form 7 applications. The West Bengal BJP demanded an extension of the deadline for Form 7 submissions and accused the TMC leadership of trying to disrupt the SIR process.
