Govt offices attacked during SIR hearings in West Bengal
Mob violence against government offices is a serious threat to law and order.
Locals in West Bengal have attacked Block Development Officer (BDO) offices, following the ongoing Special Investigating Agency (SIR) process. Two BDO offices were vandalized by mobs, resulting in significant damage and injuries to police officers. Trinamool Congress MLA Monirul Islam was present at one of the incidents, while West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manoj Kumar Agarwal, described the violence as a "sporadic incident" and assured security arrangements for SIR hearings. The WB CEO also shared FIRs related to the attacks on social media.
