The Supreme Court has deemed the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) allegations of obstruction by the West Bengal government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during raids on I-PAC offices and director Pratik Jain's residence as "very serious." The court intends to issue a notice and examine the matter. The ED claims that Ms. Banerjee interfered with their probe and that this pattern of interference will discourage law enforcement. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued for the case to be heard by the Calcutta High Court first, while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta emphasized the need to protect officers’ rights and set an example.
