No receipts for SIR documents, Mamata writes fifth letter to CEC
Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, has written to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar again expressing concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. She claims that electors are not receiving proper documentation for their submitted documents and alleges that the SIR is being driven by technicalities rather than a reasoned application of mind. Banerjee also points out that many genuine voters have been wrongly categorized as "logical discrepancies" due to errors in the manual electoral rolls, which were scanned and translated into English using AI tools. The Chief Minister has further raised concerns about the deaths of several BLOs during the SIR process and alleged that the Election Commission is indifferent to these deaths.
