The raids are linked to allegations that I-PAC facilitated transactions for a hawala operator involved in the alleged smuggling operation. Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, protested the raids, claiming they were aimed at seizing sensitive party data. The ED accused her of removing evidence and filed a motion in court alleging obstruction of its investigation.
