TMC MPs stage protest outside Home Ministry office over raids on I-PAC, detained
Potential abuse of power by the government through probe agencies is a serious concern.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs staged a protest outside the Home Ministry office in Delhi on Friday, January 9, 2026, against alleged misuse of probe agencies by the Union government. The MPs were detained and taken to Parliament Street Police Station after being forcibly evicted from the protest site. The protest followed raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at I-PAC's office and the residence of its chief, which TMC leaders claimed was an attempt to seize their internal data. Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, accused the ED of political vendetta and misuse of central agencies.
