The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) alleged that Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, entered the residence of I-PAC director Pratik Jain and removed key evidence during a raid in Kolkata. The ED claims this action obstructed their investigation into a 2020 case against a coal smuggling syndicate led by Anup Majhi alias ‘Lala’. The agency stated that the raids were conducted peacefully and professionally until Banerjee arrived with police officers, who then removed evidence from both the residence and I-PAC office. The ED clarified that the search is not targeted at any political establishment and is part of a regular crackdown on money laundering.
