Abhishek Banerjee alleges delay to helicopter clearance by ‘anti-Bengal forces’
Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress, alleged that delays in obtaining clearance for his helicopter from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) caused him to arrive late at a public meeting in Rampurhat, West Bengal. He stated that he had to use an aircraft belonging to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren due to the DGCA's lack of clearance for his own helicopter. Samirul Islam, another Trinamool Congress MP, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the delays. Sukanta Majumdar, a Union minister and former BJP state president, refuted these claims, stating that the DGCA prioritizes safety and may delay flights to ensure VIP security.
