West Bengal SIR: Cases of ‘logical discrepancies’ in progeny mapping come down to 95 lakh
The number of logical discrepancies found in electors' enumeration forms during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal has significantly decreased, dropping from 1.67 crore to around 94.49 lakh as of January 2, 2025. Election officials are currently reviewing these cases, which include instances of mismatched parent names, age discrepancies between electors and their parents or grandparents, and excessive progeny links. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet released a public list of electors with logical discrepancies despite concerns raised by Trinamool Congress leaders, including national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
