Telangana Assembly adopts resolution for restoration of MGNREG Act
The Telangana Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution demanding the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as it was, rejecting the new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) law. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy argued that the new Act undermines the rights of poor people to wage work and dilutes the spirit of MGNREGA. He also criticized the new law's funding structure, demanding a restoration of the old scheme's 100% wage component provision by the Centre.
