Rehabilitate Karbi Anglong violence-affected families, demand Assam Opposition parties

Opposition parties in Assam urged the state government to prioritize the rehabilitation of families affected by clashes in West Karbi Anglong district. The memorandum, signed by leaders from the Congress, CPI-M, Raijor Dal, and Assam Jatiya Parishad, also demanded compensation for victims and called for a high-level judicial inquiry into the violence. The parties accused the local administration of failing to handle the situation and suggested a political conspiracy was behind the unrest, which began after a hunger strike by tribal Karbi people demanding non-tribal residents be removed from grazing reserves.
