Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport: A new gateway for Andhra Pradesh

Why in news

PM Modi and CM Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, the first international airport in post-bifurcation Andhra Pradesh.

Background

The airport is a ₹4,700 crore project developed by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited under the PPP (DBFOT) model. It covers 2,200 acres and will replace the civil enclave at INS Dega to allow for larger aircraft and 24/7 operations.
