How our UPSC notes are made

Where our UPSC current affairs notes come from, how they are written and checked against the original report, how Hindi versions are made, and how to report a mistake.

Sources

Every note starts from a news report published by an Indian or international outlet (most often The Hindu, NDTV, The Economic Times, Al Jazeera, BBC, Times of India). The note always links to that original report. We do not copy reports: each note is written fresh, in exam format.

Choosing what matters for the exam

Each new report is checked against the UPSC Civil Services syllabus (GS1–GS4). Only reports with exam value become notes; each note is tagged with its GS paper, subject and syllabus topic, and whether it matters for Prelims, Mains or both.

Writing the note

Notes are drafted by an open AI language model run on our own pipeline, in a fixed format: why it is in the news, background, facts for Prelims, a Mains question and the dimensions an answer should cover.

Checks before a note is published

Code checks every note against its source report: numbers, years, states and named bodies (courts, commissions, ministries) must appear in the report, or the sentence is dropped. Notes that cut off mid-sentence are left out, and notes on the same story are shown together as one. Prompt changes are tested on a fixed set of past reports before they go live.

Hindi notes

Hindi notes are translations of the English notes into the Hindi used by newspapers and coaching notes. Numbers, names and official terms are checked against the English text; a note that fails the checks is not shown in Hindi.

Mistakes and corrections

Notes can still contain mistakes. Every note has a "Report a mistake" link; you can also write to [email protected]. Corrections are made as soon as a mistake is confirmed. Always check facts against the original report or PIB before using them in an answer.
