Mr Mani has denied any involvement and claims he is being targeted due to false accusations made by a non-resident Keralite businessperson who sought to link him to illegal trade in religious artifacts. The SIT is verifying Mr Mani's background, including any connections to the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potti. They are also investigating potential inter-state rackets that exploit unsuspecting collectors with fake "magical" demonstrations of everyday objects.
