
Assam Floods Kill 98, Affect Over 1.55 Lakh People; CM Promises Relief Measures

On August 8, officials reported that Assam floods affected over 1.55 lakh people and caused 98 fatalities, with one more death in Charaideo district. Thirteen districts were impacted; Golaghat was the worst-hit. The government will launch a damage assessment from August 9 to expedite rehabilitation funds for Jorhat, Sivasagar, Golaghat, and Charaideo districts by September 10. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured comprehensive relief measures.
