TVK launches ₹2,117-crore urban mission, boosts MAWS budget to ₹29,863 crore
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government launched the ₹2,117-crore 'Chief Minister’s Integrated Urban Development Mission' in its 2026-27 Budget to focus on civic infrastructure, urban public health, and AI-driven e-governance. The revised Budget allocated a total of ₹29,863 crore to the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department, up from ₹28,227 crore in the Interim Budget presented by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu in February 2026. This marks an increase from the ₹26,678 crore allocated in FY 2025-26.
