Secondary grade teachers’ protest enters third day, over 1,000 detained again
Over 1,000 Secondary Grade Seniority Teachers’ Association (SSTA) members were removed from a protest at the Chennai Collectorate on Sunday. The teachers are demanding equal pay for equal work, citing a long-standing pay disparity between those appointed before and after June 2009. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who supported their demands in 2018, has been accused of ignoring their plea. The police detained the teachers in city halls.
