Centre releases ₹2,117.85 crore to seven flood-hit States as severe flooding hits Assam again
The Union government approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore from its share of the State Disaster Response Fund to support seven flood-affected States during the monsoon season on August 1, 2026. Himachal Pradesh and Odisha received their second instalments totaling ₹693.95 crore, while Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Maharashtra got first instalments of ₹44.55 crore, ₹379.35 crore, ₹500 crore, and ₹500 crore respectively. Inter-Ministerial Central Teams were deputed to assess damages in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, with two visits already made to Assam due to severe flooding. The Centre remains committed to providing necessary assistance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
