On Saturday, DMK urged the Supreme Court to direct Karnataka to release 3,500 cusecs of Cauvery water daily at Biligundlu as per July 28 and 30 CWRC and CWMA directives. DMK sought an additional 7,000 cusecs for 15 days to clear a backlog of about 9.46 TMC due by July 26, 2026. The party highlighted that Karnataka had not complied despite binding directions, threatening livelihoods of four million farmers and ten million agricultural laborers in Tamil Nadu's delta districts.
