Older BS-III vehicles may need rubber part replacements for E20 petrol, Gadkari says
Nitin Gadkari, India's Road Transport and Highways Minister, stated in the Rajya Sabha that some BS-III vehicles manufactured before 2016 may need rubber parts replaced for E20 petrol use. Studies by Indian Oil Corporation, IIP, SIAM, and ARAI found no engine modifications needed for cars or two-wheelers using E20 fuel; older vehicles showed no major changes in performance or abnormal wear. The Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme has been implemented through a phased approach since 2021.
