Records accessed by The Indian Express show that Lumba Ram, MP from Sirohi, Rajasthan, received Rs 4.20 lakh in subsidy for growing lemons on his farm in January 2025 under a horticulture scheme. He applied in April 2021 and was not an MP then; he became one in 2024. Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Ramnath Thakur confirmed this, responding to questions raised by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee.
