BSE Sensex Rises 776 Points as Crude Oil Prices Fall Over 9%
On Monday, the BSE Sensex rose 776 points (1.02%) to 76,835.8 and the NSE Nifty climbed 228.50 points (0.9%) to 23,995.9 as crude oil prices fell more than 9% to $89 per barrel. The rupee gained 66 paise to close at 95.91 against the US dollar. Bond yields dropped to 6.77%, and midcap and smallcap stocks advanced. Lower crude prices eased inflation concerns, potentially allowing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to cut rates. Elsewhere in Asia, markets were mixed with China gaining 1.15% and South Korea rising 0.9%.
