The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a Rs 1,264 crore project to construct the third and fourth railway lines of the Ballari-Guntakal section in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Covering about 46 km across three districts, the multitracking project will be completed by 2028-29, enhancing connectivity for approximately 99 villages with a population of seven lakh people. It aims to boost freight traffic by 16.22 MTPA and reduce logistics costs while minimizing carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to planting 0.27 crore trees. The project aligns with the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, focusing on integrated multi-modal connectivity and efficiency improvements for Indian Railways.
