SDPI support to UDF in Kollam Corporation sparks political row
The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has drawn criticism from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for supporting the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Kollam Corporation. CPI(M) district secretary S. Jayamohan accused the UDF of aligning with minority communal forces like the SDPI and the BJP to secure victory, alleging an unholy alliance between the two parties. The CPI(M) also pointed out instances where the BJP helped the UDF by not fielding candidates in certain areas, while the UDF reciprocated by securing votes for the BJP in others.
