Tamil Nadu Pauses Land Acquisition for Proposed Second Airport in Parandur
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol stated in the Rajya Sabha that the Tamil Nadu government has not requested to change the site of the proposed second airport in Parandur. The Ministry of Civil Aviation granted in-principle approval to TIDCO in April 2025, with an estimated Phase I cost of ₹10,500 crore as per TIDCO's September 2024 application. Land acquisition for the project has been paused by the Tamil Nadu government without issuing a formal order to drop it.
