Since taking office, Suvendu Adhikari's BJP government in West Bengal has reopened numerous old cases, including those from the 2021 election violence and the 2024 R G Kar Medical College rape. The government also re-examined illegal mining-related cases and the 2025 schoolgirl bombing case, making over 458 new inquiries and registering 181 fresh FIRs. TMC spokesperson Pradipta Mukherjee accused BJP of political targeting.
