Delhi High Court Refuses to Interfere with Sonam Wangchuk’s Hospital Treatment
On July 19, 2026, Delhi High Court refused to interfere with activist Sonam Wangchuk’s treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. Wangchuk was forcibly taken there by Delhi Police on July 1, during his hunger strike. His wife Gitanjali Angmo said the petition was wrongly interpreted and questioned why intervention couldn’t be democratic. They plan to file another petition on July 20, asserting Wangchuk should have free access to doctors of his choice. The court will hear the case again on July 24.
