India successfully launched its first private-sector orbital rocket, Vikram-1, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The three-stage 22-metre rocket deployed payloads into a 450km low-Earth orbit, marking India as the third country to achieve this through private enterprise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed it as an encouragement for innovation. Skyroot Aerospace, founded in 2018, developed Vikram-1 which can carry up to 350kg and clear space debris.
