Modi launches India’s first emission-free hydrogen train, carrying up to 2,600 passengers
On July 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch India’s first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana. The ten-coach train can carry up to 2,600 passengers and generates electricity through a chemical reaction with no emissions except water vapour. Hydrogen is produced on-site at the Jind plant for refuelling. Indian Railways aims to expand this technology across the country as part of its green initiatives.
