Supreme Court Unlikely to Hear Chandigarh’s Appeal Against Scrapped Riot Case Against AAP Leaders

The Supreme Court said it is not inclined to hear the Chandigarh administration's petition challenging a high court order that scrapped a rioting case against AAP leaders, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, over a 2020 protest. The high court found no prima facie case or specific instigation by the AAP leaders and dismissed charges under Sections 147, 149, 332, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code. The bench adjourned the matter after Surya Kant, Chief Justice of India, expressed reluctance to interfere without merit-based arguments.
