Modi Approves ₹3,907 Crore Rail Projects, Set to Boost Connectivity for 14 Lakh People
On Wednesday, July 15, 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved two Ministry of Railways projects costing approximately ₹3,907 crore. These include doubling the Paradeep – Haridaspur line and laying a fourth line on Rajkharsawan – Dangoaposi route, covering four districts in Odisha and Jharkhand. The projects will increase Indian Railways' network by 145 km, enhancing connectivity to about 1,526 villages with a population of 14 lakhs, several tourist destinations, and improving freight traffic by 44 MTPA. These initiatives are part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan aimed at integrated multi-modal development.
