University of Jammu Orders Audit to Remove Anti-National Books

On Wednesday, the University of Jammu ordered a comprehensive audit and inspection of its libraries and offices to remove any books or publications with anti-national, separatist, or objectionable content. The Registrar asked for robust mechanisms to prevent such materials from being procured or distributed. This follows the J&K government’s directive to withdraw two school library books and blacklist certain authors and publishers. The university also withdrew a book from its Political Science Department after it was reported by The Indian Express. A committee will formulate strict screening procedures, including periodic random checks by academicians.
