IUML revolts over denial of Deputy Mayor post

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has protested the Congress's unilateral announcement of two Deputy Mayor candidates for the Kochi Corporation, claiming it violates UDF consultation norms. The IUML, a major constituent of the UDF, demands a full term for their candidate and argues that they are entitled to at least one term based on their political standing within the alliance. The IUML is currently in consultations with the UDF at the state level, but if no resolution is reached, district-level leaders will meet Wednesday evening.
