PM Modi set to launch India's first hydrogen-powered train developed by ICF
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch India's first hydrogen-powered train developed by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. Approved by the Railway Board on May 22, 2026, it will run on the Jind-Sonipat route at 75 kmph, stopping at 12 stations. Powered by a 1,200 kW hydrogen fuel cell system, its only emission is water vapour. A refuelling facility has been set up in Jind for this purpose.
