S. Janaki, Recording Over 40,000 Songs, Laid to Rest with State Honours

Veteran singer S. Janaki, who recorded over 40,000 songs across nearly 20 Indian languages and won four National Film Awards, was laid to rest with full state honours at her farmhouse in Kaniyanahundi near Mysuru on Sunday evening after passing away on July 11 at age 88. Her granddaughter Apsara described her as "one of a kind," while tributes poured in from political leaders and the film industry, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called her passing an "irreparable loss."
