
Four Indian nationals pushed into Bangladesh return home after one-year legal battle
Trinamool Congress leader Samirul Islam welcomed the return of four Bengali migrants detained by Delhi Police last year and pushed into Bangladesh. The group, including Sweety Bibi, her two minor sons, and the husband of Sunali Khatun who returned in December 2025 after a Supreme Court intervention, were brought back to India on Wednesday (July 8, 2026) after a year-long legal battle. The migrants had been pushed back from Bangladesh in June 2025 and finally returned through the India-Bangladesh border in Malda district.
